House Rule types
The Guided builder offers nine kinds of rule. Four watch spending and five watch balances and markets. This page lists each, what it asks for and the sentence it writes.
Spending

| Monthly limit for a category | Monthly limit, Category | The household reaches 80 percent of the limit, and again when it goes over. Once per level per month. |
| Any charge at a store | Store or company name | The merchant name contains your text, ignoring case. |
| A new recurring charge | Nothing | A well known subscription charges for the first time, or a second charge lands about a month or a year later at nearly the same amount. Restaurants, transport and travel merchants never count. |
Balances and markets
| Rule | You enter | Fires when |

| Cash gets low | Alert when cash is below | Checking plus savings for the household crosses the line. It re-arms after cash rises 2 percent above. |
| One account gets low | An account, an amount | That one account goes below the amount. |
| A card balance gets high | Optional card, an amount | A card balance goes above the amount. |
| Net worth drops | A percent, and 1 day, 7 days or 30 days | Net worth falls by more than that percent compared with that many days ago. |
| Investments dip | A percent | Investments fall by more than that percent from their highest value in the last 30 days. |
Limits for each field
- Amounts must be above 0 and up to 10,000,000. Percents must be above 0 and up to 100.
- Store names take 2 to 60 characters.
- Rule text can be up to 300 characters.
- Category choices include Dining out, Coffee shops, Fast food, Groceries, Food and Drink, Transportation, Shopping, Entertainment, Bills and Utilities, Travel, Healthcare, Education, Personal Care, General Services, Home Improvement, Rent and Dues and Other.
Balance rules never contact your bank. They use the balances Shayr last saved, and skip accounts not updated for more than 7 days.
