Track a savings goal

Tap Plan, tap See all on the Goals card, tap the green +, name the goal, set a target, and update the saved amount whenever you add money. Goals are shared with your whole household.

Steps

  1. Tap Plan in the bottom bar, then tap See all on the Goals card.

  2. Tap the green +, or Add a Goal if you have none. The New Goal sheet opens.

  3. Tap a Quick Start chip such as Emergency Fund or Vacation, or type your own Goal name.

  4. Fill in Target amount ($). Optionally set Current saved ($), a Target date (optional) up to 10 years out, an emoji and a color.

  5. Tap Save Goal. You see Goal created.

Update how much you have saved

Shayr does not move money into goals. You tell it how much is saved. Tap Update Saved on a goal card. The sheet sets the total, it does not add to it. Choose Use 20% of my savings, 50% or 100% (percentages of your household's total assets), or Set manually and type an amount. Tap Update Goal.

When you reach it

A goal stays on the list at 100 percent. Everyone in the household gets one notification when a goal is reached, unless they paused alerts.

Home buying readiness

If a goal looks like a home goal (a house emoji, or a name with home, house or mortgage), a Home buying readiness card appears with a score of Ready, Getting there or Not yet. It is a GOAT and trial feature. On Bussin it is locked with an upgrade prompt. See Plans and limits.

The mortgage rate it uses

The score assumes a 30 year fixed mortgage. On GOAT and the trial, Shayr reads Freddie Mac's weekly average rate once each session and shows it on the screen as 30-year fixed, with a line such as Freddie Mac weekly average, week of Oct 1. The Goals card scores with the same rate. The rate is an average from Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey, not a quote or an offer for you.

If Shayr cannot load this week's average, it uses its own estimate, labelled Estimated rate, with the note that it could not load the average.

Use your own rate

  1. On the Home buying readiness screen, find Use my own rate.
  2. Type a rate, for example 6.5. It must be between 0.5 and 20.
  3. Tap Use. The line under the rate now says Your own rate and shows what the market rate is.
  4. Tap Use the market rate to go back.

Your own rate is saved on this phone only, and signing out clears it.

If something goes wrong

The rate says Estimated rate.
Shayr could not load Freddie Mac's weekly average, so it used its own estimate. Open the screen again later, or type your own rate under Use my own rate.
The Home buying readiness card is locked.
It needs GOAT or the trial. See Plans and limits.
The saved amount is capped.
Saved cannot be more than the target. Raise the target first.
