My bank will not link
Most failed links come down to one of five things: a wrong or expired bank login, a bank that needs extra verification, the bank connection cap on your plan, a weak connection, or a bank Plaid does not cover yet. Work through the list below, and write to us with the bank name if none fits.
Steps
Check you can sign in to the bank's own app or website with the same username and password. If that fails, fix it with the bank first.
Try again on a stable connection. Wi-Fi is better than a weak cellular signal. Close the Plaid window and tap Add Account again.
Finish any code or security question the bank sends. Plaid waits for it. If the code never arrives, request it again.
Search for the bank by its full name. Some banks have several entries, for example one for personal and one for business.
Count your bank connections. Your household can have 3 on the trial, 7 on Bussin and 15 on GOAT, and a lapsed plan cannot add any. One bank login is one connection, however many accounts are under it. Going over the cap can show a generic Failed to link account message. Remove a connection you do not need, or upgrade. See What counts as a bank connection.
Check whether your household already has that bank. Shayr does not add a second connection to the same bank. Use Reconnect a bank instead.
Update Shayr to the latest version in the App Store, then try again.
Closing Plaid is not an error
If you close the Plaid window before finishing, Shayr shows nothing. Just start again.
Still stuck
Write to us with the name of the bank, the time you tried, and the message Plaid showed. Never send us your bank password.
In the meantime, add a Custom Account to track the balance by hand. See Link your first bank.
