A balance or net worth looks wrong

Compare the number with your bank first. Most differences come from timing, a card or loan counted as debt, a manual account that was not updated, or an account that needs reconnecting.

Steps

  1. Open Accounts and look at the Last Updated time on the account. If it is old, pull down to refresh and see Reconnect a bank.

  2. Remember how net worth works. Cash and Invest are added, and credit cards and loans are subtracted as Debt. A card with a balance lowers net worth even though the money is not gone.

  3. Check manual accounts. A Custom Account or real estate entry changes only when you edit it. Tap the three dots, then Edit Account Balance.

  4. Compare the right numbers. Banks show available and current balances that differ while purchases are pending. Shayr shows the bank's current balance.

  5. Remember the household. Net worth adds every member's accounts. See What everyone sees.

The change badge

The green or red badge on the Net Worth card compares with about 30 days ago. It is hidden if there is under a month of history, or if the older figure was under 10 percent of today's because accounts were not all linked yet.

The chart

The chart plots one point per month for the year so far. 1Y and 2Y may therefore look the same as 6M, and early in the year you will see only a few points.

Investments

Holdings and the Invest tab need GOAT or the trial. A brokerage linked for balances shows its total, but not the positions, until it is re-linked on a plan that includes investments.

If something goes wrong

It is only off by a few dollars.
Check for pending items at your bank. They change the available balance before the current balance.
Net worth suddenly jumped.
A newly linked account was added, or an old one was removed. See your Accounts list.
